The Green River runs through Flaming Gorge in the northeast corner of Utah, proceeds through Dinosaur National Monument, winds through desert wilderness in east-central Utah and passes the town of Green River before merging with the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park. It has a lot to offer.
The segment just beneath Flaming Gorge Dam is a renowned trout river. It also offers easy do-it-yourself whitewater rafting. Lodore Canyon in Dinosaur National Monument features terrific whitewater rafting for which you'll need experienced guides. Pristine solitude and terrific desert canyons characterize the Green River as it runs through the Desolation and Gray Canyons in central Utah. Four to five day trips are available through this unspoiled land. Daily trips on a portion of the river are offered from the town of Green River.
South of town, the river proceeds through Labyrinth and Stillwater Canyons and into Canyonlands National Park and a confluence with the Colorado River. Pleasant float trips or canoe trips are the rule here.
