The Main
Scenic Drive

The scenic drive
through the Needles District travels through pretty
and varied red rock terrain. The drive is about 12
miles long with all branches. Most of it is paved
except for a recommended 2 mile spur to Elephant
Hill. There are a few picnic areas along the way as
well as a few short hikes/nature walks. Select

The Roadside Ruin
Trail (.3 mile out-and-back) leads to an ancient
preserved Anasazi granary.

|
The Cave Spring
Trail (.6 mile loop) takes you past a pictograph
panel with ancient handprints and past an
authentic, preserved cowboy line camp. The trail is
easy but does require the use of ladders to
navigate a few steep sections.

The Pothole Point
Trail (.5 mile out-and-back) takes you past
numerous potholes in the sandstone. Potholes are
depressions where rainwater collects.

|
The Slickrock Foot
Trail (2.5 mile part loop/part out-and-back)
traverses open slickrock to some superb panoramic
views.
