Description
Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front in general serve as a grand wooded oasis in the Utah desert. So you won’t be climbing red rock, but quartzite and limestone, and instead of duney vistas and eerie rock formations, you’ll be scaling boulders and walls among pine trees.
There are literally hundreds of routes in this area, largely in the canyons. Some routes have bouldery elements, others are all about cracks, sometimes large enough to squeeze hands entire into. The granite and the limestone can have a very different feel under the hands, so if you’re used to one, go careful on the other initially.
These do tend to be more urban climbs than those in other areas of Utah.
