Description
This dirt road ride is a favorite for mountain biking, climbing high into the Wasatch Mountains and accessing several single-track trails. Distances can be varied and several pullouts allow for parking along the way. The main road, although steep, is a moderate ride and makes a great out-and-back trip for intermediate bikers. More advanced bikers will enjoy exploring the several side trails, mostly single-track, that branch off the main road and a few high elevation trails that continue to the ridge. Most trails are unmarked and may require some route-finding. Although these trails are unmaintained, heavy use by hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers make many of them easy to follow. The best way to experience Snake Creek Canyon is to spend a day exploring.
Trailhead access along Snake Creek road may be limited; check in at the park visitor center for more details.
Vehicles are common on Snake Creek road, so exercise caution when riding this route. The canyon is popular with many recreationists and hikers and horseback riders are usually encountered along the trails; remember to yield to these groups.
To access Snake Creek Canyon, turn left at the park visitor center and follow the road past the golf course into the canyon.
