Description

Zion National Park is all about red rock and intense, startling rock formations that have become the very image of what people think of when they think "Utah outdoors.” Sandstone is the primary rock here.

Over a hundred routes can be climbed within the national park, many considered "classic.” The scenery doubtless helps, but this is an excellent place for crack-climbing and especially for wall climbing, oh, really nice, long wall routes. The difficulty of the routes varies widely and for every long and/or tricky route, there'll be something short and safe.

Rock Climbing

Soft stone sandstone piled up in towers and buttresses and mostly with very easy approaches, Arches is a desert climber paradise....

Kane Springs Canyon's routes are recent ones, largely established within the last couple of decades....

After you take the Zion Canyon scenic road, you'll come upon some crags (and some bathrooms)....

Thousands of routes, and many of them you won't find in a guidebook....

Wall Street has many, many routes and may not be large enough to accommodate them....

This bizarre and striking rock formation is very popular with climbers and that most famous Gendarme route, the Touchstone Wall, often takes a good day (or a little longer)....

Castle Valley is the home of the desert tower climb, or we should say climbs....
